Oh Hai
February 4, 2013

This is an apology to myself because I’m not sure who else is reading. If you are, hello! I’m not posting much at the moment. I look at the computer screen all day and I can’t look at it at night anymore. I’ll report back with some interesting stuff sometime soon. Until then here’s Han.

New Look Thousands
November 21, 2012

The Thousanders launched a new-look website last week and it’s a piece of low-fi brilliance if you ask me. The previous rave on a page has been replaced by a zine-style website, which sounds impossible but here’s proof it’s not. One of my favourite things about the makeover is the size of the article text because I don’t have to wear my special computer glasses to read it. The whole thing’s very thoughtful like that. Hats off to Penny, REJ, Anthony Kolber, Icelab, Rob and John.

Land Girls
October 25, 2012

My new lady and style heroes are these girls – Land Girls! Some cool history stuff about them here. And posters here. “God speed the plough and the woman who drives it.” Yes ma’am.

Building a Smokehouse
September 30, 2012

This video of Rohan building a pioneer-style cold smokehouse was made to support a story in Smith Journal volume four. Words on printed pages are awesome, but with a project like this moving images are even better. Aaron and Mark from Commoner expertly put the film together and it features the aforementioned Rohan from Whole Larder Love (who just released a new cookbook). Smith volume four is on shelves now too. Look for the camouflage cover.

Smith Journal volume three
June 14, 2012

Pretty proud of old Smith volume three with its quirky cover and this story on illustrator Ralph McQuarrie who drew all the original artwork for Star Wars. See more here
